Two-way radio solution for Moulton College, Northampton 

Wirefr3 Radio Communications Ltd are delighted to announce a new two-way radio solution – college installation at Moulton College, Northampton.

The campus is split into 4 sites with a radius of between 2-3 miles.  The college had no two-way radio communication system in place.  We were asked to build a system for them that would be fit for purpose and cost effective.  The system would bring together reception, facilities management and security.

Having completed extensive testing we were able to put forward a solution that exceeded the clients expectations.  The solution centred around the Kirisun DP480 handheld portable two-way radio and the DR600 digital repeater.  In addition, we installed a 4-stack dipole antenna.  The combination of the radios, repeater and the 4-stack dipole antenna delivered full coverage to the site – despite previously identified black spots.

The Kirisun DP480 is a cost effective two-way radio that performs incredibly well and also has many useful features.

The two-way radio operates in both analogue and digital mode and has loud and clear audio and voice annunciation.  The radio can be in action for up to 16 hours before requiring a re-charge due to the 2000mAH lithium ion battery.  The radio has a full keypad and display.

The Kirisun DP480 has a dedicated Emergency Button and also a Man Down Alarm.  These additional features were significant to the Health and Safety Officer and further enhanced the decision to deploy the DP480.

The client was delighted with the overall solution.  They are now able to communicate across the entire campus with a simple push of a button.  The previously identified black spots are no longer and the radios ticked all the H&S requirements – and all delivered within budget.
