Motorola digital upgrade begins at Country Estate

Wirefr3 has worked with several Country Estates and Houses over recent years.  We are delighted to announce we have been awarded a further contract with a well-established Estate. The contract requires us to supply, implement and manage their Motorola digital two-way radio upgrade.

We initially conducted a site survey which gave us an overview of their existing system.  The site survey allowed us to identify existing blackspots and limitations with their current arrangement.  The survey also allowed us to have valuable dialogue with the Estates team.  As a result, were able to understand what they wanted to achieve with the radio system and were able to demonstrate how this could improve and grow.

The existing system works in analogue mode with 30 handheld devices (five channels) and a repeater.   The entire fleet has provided many years of service, but it has now reached the end of its life span.  Moving radio systems can be seen as a significant change so we collectively agreed on a soft launch.

Phase 1

The first phase sees 10 handheld two-way radios being replaced.  Having discussed a variety of options, the client opted for the SL1600.  The SL1600 can operate in analogue and digital mode.  This allows the radio to talk to the remaining fleet which will ultimately be moved all to digital.  The radio is ultra-slim and rugged and can be easily carried and handled.  We have also included channel voice annunciation.  This provides the user with clarity when choosing the channel of choice.

Future phases will see us deliver vehicle fitted radios (DM4600E).  This allows the Estates team who drive around the grounds and stay connected.  The remaining handhelds will be replaced along with the installation of a digital repeater.
